1962
  • Misawa Mokuzai, the predecessor of Misawa Homes Co., Ltd., started business operations upon acquisition of the housing industry’s first certification from the Ministry of Construction under Article 38 of the Building Standard Law.
1964
  • Our homes withstood Niigata Earthquake, which verified the strength of the monocoque construction of our wooden panel adhesion system.
  • “Home Engineer” sales operation system introduced.
1965
  • Pilot housing model “Home Core” featuring large panels developed.
  • A factory to produce prefabricated housing materials constructed in Matsumoto, Nagano-ken.
1966
  • A comprehensive home guarantee system, the first in the industry, inaugurated.
1967
  • Misawa Homes Co., Ltd. established.
  • Won the contract to build the helicopter hangar and the living quarters for Japan’s 9th Antarctic Observation Team at the Japanese Antarctic Base. ( Built more facilities since then at the Base)
1968
  • Built “Home Core” houses in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
1969
  • “Helico” capsule house successfully transported by air.
  • Institute of Research and Development established within Misawa Homes.
  • One million yen home “Home Core” placed on market.
1970
  • “Construction School” opened; the first of its kind in the prefabricated housing industry.
  • Model “Home Core” exhibited at Expo 70 in Osaka
1971
  • Housing model “Free Size F350” received Construction Minister’s certification under Article 38 of the Building Standard Law. “Free Size F350,” together with model “Home Core,” received approval from the Government Housing Loan Corporation.
  • Took part in the International Industrialized Housing Show(IANBEX) in Kentucky, USA ; first by a Japanese housing company.
  • Misawa Homes Co., Ltd. listed on Second Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1972
  • Misawa Homes announced as No.1 seller of homes in the prefabricated housing industry in 1971.
  • Model “Home Core 350” won prize in Pilot House Engineering Competition organized jointly by Ministry of Construction, Ministry of International Trade and Industry and Building Center of Japan.
  • “After Sales and Maintenance Services System” inaugurated; the first in the industry.
  • Model “Home Mecha” displayed at the 2nd International Good Living Show in Tokyo.
  • Multi-functional material “New Ceramic” developed.
  • Misawa Homes Co., Ltd. listed on Second Section of Osaka Securities Exchange.

1973
  • Misawa Homes Institute of Research and Development separated from Misawa Homes and incorporated.
  • New Matsumoto Factory constructed and automated production of large panels started.

  • Construction Minister’s industrialized housing performance certification awarded to Model “Misawa Homes F.”
  • All-weather environmental chamber constructed.
1975

  • Multi-dwelling model “Lease Home” released on market.
  • Eighteen Misawa Homes factories awarded excellent quality control certification by International Trade and Industry Minister.
  • Announced “QUALITY 21 Plan” calling for a change from quantity to quality in housing.
1976
  • Model “O-type” homes launched on market and soon became a best seller model.
  • A group led by Misawa Homes won prize in “House 55 Development Competition” sponsored by both Construction Ministry and International Trade and Industry Ministry.
1977
  • Three-story wooden home “Town House” released on market.
1978
  • Number of Misawa Homes factories with excellent quality control certification by Construction Minister reached 21.
  • Entered into home renovation business.
1979
  • High-grade “G-type” homes launched on market.
  • A complete line-up of GOMAS series of homes, available in set plans, developed.
  • Nationwide Real Estate Information Center, MRD, established.
1980
  • Commercial production of Model “Misawa Homes 55” approved by both Construction Ministry and International Trade and Industry Ministry and launched on market.
1981
  • Misawa’s all housing models met Construction Ministry’s newly established seismic design requirements.
  • Misawa Homes Co., Ltd. listed on First Section of both Tokyo Stock Exchange and Osaka Securities Exchange.
  • Industry-first long guarantee systems commenced.
1982
  • Residential communities “Fresh Town Kawai” and “Hatsukaichi New Town Ajinadai” won Construction Minister awards.
  • Home renovation subsidiary, Home-ing Co., Ltd., established.
1983
  • “24-hour service system” started.
  • Model “Domain” launched on market.

1991
  • “GOMAS” won Nippon Keizai Shimbun’s 1990 Commended Product Prize.
  • Received order from National Institute of Polar Research to build administration building for 33rd Japanese Antarctic Observation Team.
  • “GOMAS” series of homes won 1991 Good Design Award; first in the industrialized housing industry. (Misawa Homes has been a Good Design Award recipient for 16 consecutive years since 1991 to date.)
  • Tohoku Misawa Homes Co., Ltd. listed on First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.

  • Three-story urban-type model “A-GAIN 3” launched on market.
  • Three-story wooden multi-dwelling models launched on market, the first three-story wooden apartment buildings in the industry.
